로테프레드놀 (loteprednol etabonate, LE)

장점

기존의 프레드니솔론 (PDA) 이나 덱사메타손과 동등한 항염증 효과를 보이며, 비활성, 비독성 전구물질이 작용 부위에서 활성 물질로 변환되어 국소적 범위에서만 치료 효과를 나타낸 후 빠르게 비활성 대사 물질로 전환되기 때문에 안압 상승[1], 백내장 유발 등의 부작용은 적게 유발하는 것으로 알려졌다[2][3][4].

단점

그러나 몇몇 연구[5][6]에서는 급성 앞포도막염의 경우 항염증 효과가 PDA에 비해 떨어진다고 보고하였다. 또한 LE 역시 프레드니솔론 제제를 기반으로 개발된 약제이므로 섬유주에 영향을 끼쳐 안압을 상승시킬 수 있다[7].
