[https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21861084/ 연결]</ref> 과 Bansal et al11에 의해 처음으로 보고되었다. 이들은 각각 전방 내 홍채고정 인공수정체안과 유리체절제술을 시행 받은 무수정체안에서 발생한 덱사메타손 삽입물의 전방 내 이동에 대한 증례였고, 이후 후방 인공수정체안에서의 덱사메타손 삽입물의 전방 내 이동에 대한 보고도 있었다. 12,13 여러 연구에서 덱사메타손 삽입물의 전방 내 이동에 대한 위험인자를 분석하였는데, 이전의 유리체절제술을 시행 받은 병력과 수정체낭의 결손 또는 섬모체소대의 약화 및 해리가 덱사메타손 삽입물의 전방 내 이동과 관련 있는 인자인 것으로 밝혀졌다.
