2010년에 발표된 ACCORD 연구는 10,251명의 2형 당뇨병 환자를 대상으로 한 전향적 임상 시험으로 그 중 2,856명이 환자를 대상으로 ACCORD-EYE (Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes - EYE)[1] 연구가 이루어졌다[2].
